Colony Establishment

Wonky Wings and a light-colored female selected as founders for the Honey Bug project

26 November 2025

Today marks the formal establishment of the Honeycrest Dubia “Honey Bug” project.

Our two founding males - Wonky Wings and Logo - were selected first, followed by fourteen light-colored females from the larger colony. The transfer was calm and deliberate, and the new enclosure had already been prepared with familiar textures and ample shelter.

We are now housed together in a quieter space, separate from the main colony. There is no urgency here. No crowding. No pressure. The environment is stable, and observation comes before expectation.

This group marks the beginning of what will be known as the “Honey Bug” line - a colony chosen for health, temperament, and consistent honey coloration, and allowed to establish itself at its own pace.

This entry records the moment of separation and settling. Future notices will follow only when something meaningful changes.

Happy scittering,

The Honey Bugs
